Mission

To deliver assessment, therapy, and support that improves lives, with intentional focus on the families and communities most often left without access to high-quality mental wellness and family care.

Vision

We envision a system of mental wellness and family care where support reaches the people who need it most. Where families in underserved communities receive the same quality of assessment, therapy, and support as families with private resources. Where every person, whatever their background or circumstance, is recognized as having something to offer and is welcomed into care that helps them thrive. We work toward this vision through intentional partnership, clinical excellence, and policy that prioritizes the people the system has historically overlooked.

What we stand for

These are the values that guide our work and shape the experience of every family we serve.

01

We focus on outcomes

Families come to us for answers and a path forward. We use validated assessment tools, the science of clinical care, and clear goals, so the work we do together leads somewhere meaningful.

02

We ground our work in science and compassion

Behavior, learning, and emotion can be understood. We bring the science of clinical care to that work, paired with the patience and humility that human beings deserve.

03

We hold ourselves to high standards of integrity

We make recommendations based on what is best for the person in front of us. That commitment guides every conversation we have.

04

We work to make care simpler

The families we serve are often navigating systems that feel confusing or overwhelming. Part of our job is to make the path forward feel clearer, not more complicated.

05

We value a diverse team

Good clinical work benefits from many perspectives. We are intentional about building a team with different disciplines, lived experiences, and clinical lenses, because the families we serve deserve to feel seen and understood.

06

We aim to be the best partner we can be

For the individuals who walk through our doors, the families who trust us with their children, and the communities we work alongside.

How we began

The McCrory Center, also known as Social Care Administrators, has been a steady source of support for families across Metro Detroit since opening our doors in 2012.

The McCrory Center was founded in Redford, Michigan, by Dr. Tammy McCrory, Ph.D., LLP, BCBA, with a clear commitment: early identification, prevention, and intervention for at-risk individuals and the families who love them.

We began by offering case management and care coordination across Wayne and Oakland counties, addressing the urgent needs of families with limited access to support.

In our first year alone, we screened more than 100 families for psychosocial risk factors. Those included mental health needs, housing insecurity, food and nutrition concerns, transportation barriers, infant developmental delays, and home safety.

Our early team included registered nurses, clinical social workers, infant mental health specialists, and student interns. All were united by a shared belief that every family deserves support and dignity.

Over time, our work expanded. We added philanthropic outreach focused on closing the poverty gap, providing families with both tangible resources and essential knowledge. We extended psychological and behavioral health support to individuals, families, and organizations across the region.

Today, the McCrory Center provides psychological evaluations, therapy, parent training, and supports coordination across three offices in Detroit, Livonia, and Redford. We also offer continuing education for behavioral health professionals and run a growing initiative in global behavioral health.

These combined efforts laid the foundation for the McCrory Center's reputation as a trusted provider and a committed community advocate.

Our culture

The McCrory Center is built on the belief that every person, whether patient, clinician, trainee, or team member, brings gifts, talents, and a voice that deserves to be heard. We are committed to building a workplace where that belief is lived, not just stated.

10

Written report

Common questions

How long does an evaluation take?

Testing is usually two to six hours, spread across one to three appointments. From your first call to your final report is typically several weeks, depending on the evaluation type.

Will my child be diagnosed?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. The goal isn't to find a diagnosis. It's to understand what's going on. A "no diagnosis" answer is also useful information.

Does insurance cover this?

Most of the time, yes. We verify your benefits before your first appointment so there are no surprises. See our Insurance and fees page for details.

Ready to begin?

Most evaluations start with a brief phone call.

Parent training

Concrete tools to support your child at home.

Sometimes the most powerful intervention isn't for the child. It's for the people raising them.

Parent training gives you concrete tools to support your child at home. We work with parents and caregivers on:

  • Behavior management strategies that work for your family
  • Communication tools for kids with autism, ADHD, or developmental differences
  • Routines and structure that reduce daily friction
  • Emotional regulation, theirs and yours
  • How to follow through on the recommendations in an evaluation report

Parent training is offered alongside our evaluations and therapy services, and can also be requested as a standalone service.

Global initiatives

The McCrory Center's commitment to equitable, culturally responsive behavioral health extends beyond Southeast Michigan. Through Dr. McCrory's ongoing work in global behavioral health, we are engaged in efforts to expand access to evidence-informed behavioral support in underserved communities and regions where behavioral health infrastructure is still developing.

Our global work focuses on early childhood behavioral health and caregiver-mediated intervention, grounded in the same principles that have guided the McCrory Center since 2012: meet people where they are, build local capacity, and use the science of behavior to create lasting change.

If you are a behavioral health professional, organization, or training program outside the United States and are interested in collaboration, we welcome the conversation.

What you'll need: A private space, a reliable internet connection, and a device with video capability. We use a HIPAA-compliant video platform.
